Smoking Lease Addendum Style 131

Effect on current tenants: Tenant acknowledges that current tenants residing in the complex under a prior lease, if any, will not be immediately required to cease smoking within their apartments. As current residents move out or have their leases renewed, the smoke-free rule will become effective for their apartments. Unlike a lease amendment, which is a change in the contract itself, a lease addendum is an additional document that is added to the existing lease agreement. For example, in the residential lease context, pet ownership, roommate expectations, crime free agreements, and lawn care policies may all be controlled by addenda (if they are not already controlled by the lease itself). Smoking is not permitted inside the leased premises or anywhere on the surrounding property. This includes, but is not limited to, the garage, driveway, sidewalk, yard, deck, patio, and landing.
