Fewer agreed to open up cross-border access to foreign firms, where the services are provided from abroad. According a lawsuit, funds entrusted to National Prearranged Services (NPS), a St.Louis-based company that sold prepaid funerals, were diverted and embezzled. PNC Bank is the successor to Allegiant Bank, which served as a trustee for NPS from 1998 to 2004. PNC has sponsored several initiatives to improve education, health and human services, cultural activities and the arts. These include "PNC Grow Up Great", a commitment to early childhood development, the "PNC Foundation", and community development investments. Since 1984, PNC has compiled the Christmas Price Index, a humorous economic indicator which estimates the prices of the items found in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas".
